Eureka Montana Backyard Wedding Covid Wedding

Hannah + Jonathan | An Intimate Backyard Wedding with Shades of Blue on Dickey Lake – Eureka, MT Wedding

This wedding started with such a funny and interesting story, I can’t help but share it.

Chris (Chris Holguin Photography) and I showed up to this beautiful cabin on Dickey Lake for Hannah & Jonathan’s little backyard wedding. We arrived a few minutes early so we decided to peek at the setup and get a game plan before we went in and started our thing. As we were walking past the entrance, we looked inside and saw everyone so we waved and said “we are just going to peek and check things out first!” Once we had an idea of the day, we walked inside and asked for the bride’s details, which was followed by strange looks and silence. It was so weird! Weirdest start to a wedding in KJP history! 😂😂😂

We moved past the weirdness, I ran out to the truck to grab my camera and then we started shooting the details.

Once I was outside getting the reception details, mom came out and explained the silence and awkwardness and we both totally cracked up as she told us her story.

Apparently there was a group of boaters that were driving by the day before and taking photos and being a little nosier than they expected… they must have been getting ideas for their own wedding! Honestly, who takes photos of someone else’s wedding, that’s the start to the weirdness. So when Chris and I showed up, we decided to leave our gear in the truck (important detail) and were walking around looking at all of the pretty wedding stuff. Then we came inside and asked for “details”. Amy (mom) totally thought we were that same couple from the day before 😂 I mean the gall of these people. I died of laughter… it couldn’t have worked out more perfect for that to be the scenario. Needless to say, we wont leave our gear in the car again and we will introduce ourselves before we peek around at all the pretty from now on!

Their day couldn’t have been more perfect. Just the right amount of sunshine, romantic wind during the ceremony and dreamy light for the reception. It was a laid back day with just close friends and family. Mom made the cakes and Hannah picked paper flowers with shades of blue to match her relaxed vibe for her gorgeous wedding. Beautiful words were spoken during the toasts and heartfelt gifts were given. Jonathan’s family couldn’t make it due to the travel restrictions but they made sure to have a video to send so they could still re-live the day as if they were there!

I keep saying this, at every wedding this year… These small ceremonies are so relaxed and romantic. Even if you don’t get the big wedding you planned for, it’s still going to be the perfect day!

I was so honored to be the photographer and loved every detail of the day. Thank you for having us and allowing us to capture your love story!

Special thanks to all of the dream team of vendors for this amazing day!
