Darren + Kaycie – Rustic & Elegant Barn Wedding at Roys Barn – Bozeman Montana Wedding

Kaycie emailed me back in April to come down to Bozeman and photograph her and Darren’s wedding!  I could tell she was a doll from her emails but I don’t think I was fully prepared for just how wonderful this couple was going to be.

We showed up early since we weren’t sure what to expect at the venue and were immediately welcomed by her and Darren’s family with open arms.  From the second we met everyone, we felt like we had been friends with them forever.

The details of this day were so beautiful. The color combinations, the floral arrangements, that ridiculously amazing naked cake… (you all know how I feel about naked cakes) and that BARN! We have officially been spoiled… this day came together effortlessly, and we actually got to spend some of our time just being present with our amazing couple!

They said I do with the most incredible view of the Bridger Mountains surrounded by their families and closest friends. Their officiant gave the best and most relatable sermon and their “sand” ceremony was so unique; they combined wheat from two separate farms, one from Darren’s farm and one from a farm in Palouse, where Kaycie is from!  I grew up on a farm and my parents were wheat farmers for most of my childhood, so of course, this tribute was especially meaningful to document!  And I can’t forget, after the ceremony, Kaycie’s uncle was there to take these two on a helicopter ride through the mountains!  I have never been on a helicopter before that day, so naturally I was a little nervous but it was such an amazing experience and we always talk about how we want to give our couples a break on their wedding day to just be together and take it all in, and you know what? THIS was the best way to take a break!  (Even though I was there, chattering in their ear the entire time 😂🙈) The conversation between the two of them up there and the way they looked at each other, and just got to BE TOGETHER, is what it’s all about.  It makes all of the preparations and hard work putting everything together, totally worth it!

Their reception was a blast! We had some of the yummiest food we have ever had at a wedding, the setting was perfect upstairs in this charming 100 year old barn and Kaycie’s sister Kori gave a Fresh Prince of Bel Air themed rap as her maid of honor speech and totally shocked everyone.  Going through the images and seeing the look on Kaycie’s face totally made me cry!  It was such an awesome surprise!

Thank you, Darren & Kaycie, for trusting us to capture such an important event in your new lives together.  We are honored to have been there and loved getting to know you guys!  This wedding will always have a special place in my heart!

Special thanks to all of the wonderful vendors!
