Some weddings feel like they belong in a storybook.

Cory and Katina’s wedding at The Cabins at Blacktail on June 27th was one of those days.

The forecast called for rain, and it certainly delivered. A soft, steady rain fell throughout the day, the temperatures stayed cool, and bubble umbrellas became the unofficial accessory of the celebration. Instead of taking away from the day, the weather wrapped everything in the dreamiest mist, creating a moody, romantic atmosphere that couldn’t have been more perfect.

Paired with touches of soft lavender and sage green, the entire day felt like something straight out of a fairytale. Katina’s glitter cathedral veil sparkled every time it caught the light, adding just the right amount of magic to an already unforgettable day.

I’ve known Cory and Katina for years, but there was one moment that let me see their relationship in a way I never had before.

Before their first look, they exchanged handwritten vows. They had hoped to keep the moment completely private, but as they poured their hearts out to one another, a few of their closest family members quietly wandered over, unable to resist witnessing such a beautiful moment. It may not have gone exactly as planned, but it became one of the most emotional parts of the entire day.

Listening to them share their love story in their own words was incredibly moving. You could hear years of friendship, unwavering support, and genuine admiration in every sentence. It wasn’t just about the promises they were making for the future. It was a reflection of the life they had already built together.

The joy didn’t stop there.

One of my favorite things to watch throughout the day was the way their family celebrated them. Every time I looked over, one of their adult children was hugging them, laughing with them, or sneaking in another “Congratulations.” There was so much joy surrounding these two that it felt impossible not to get caught up in it.

As the evening settled in, the rain continued to fall softly while guests stayed cozy beneath the reception tents. Off to the side, near the beautiful wooden cross where they had just promised forever, Cory and Katina shared their first dance.

Just the two of them.

No crowded dance floor. No distractions. Just the sound of the music, the gentle rain, and two people completely wrapped up in one another while everyone watched quietly from under the tents.

It was one of those moments that photographs can capture but words almost struggle to describe.

As if the day couldn’t get any sweeter, the reception was filled with so much laughter. I have to mention Katina’s glitter boots because I was completely obsessed with them from the moment I saw them. Seriously… glitter boots for a rainy Montana wedding? They couldn’t have been more perfect. Then, during the shoe game, Cory decided to see if he could squeeze his feet into them. It was one of the funniest moments of the entire day and had everyone laughing.

And of course, no rainy Montana wedding would be complete without a little evidence of the adventure. By the end of the day, both dresses had what my incredibly talented second photographer, Ginny, perfectly nicknamed an “adventure ombré.” The muddy hems became a badge of honor, proof that they embraced every moment exactly as it came.

The rain didn’t steal the spotlight.

It created it.

Cory and Katina reminded everyone there that a perfect wedding isn’t about perfect weather. It’s about marrying your best friend, laughing through the unexpected, and ending the day with a heart so full that you wouldn’t change a single thing.

Thank you, Cory and Katina, for allowing me to witness such an unforgettable day. Your wedding was beautiful, not in spite of the rain, but because you embraced it together. Congratulations on the beginning of this next chapter. I wish you both a lifetime of rainy days that remind you of just how magical this one was. ❤️
